Is there a way currently to have a menu (or rather an 'about' screen) on a watchface?

Can you currently have to have a menu appear (or rather an 'about' screen) on a watchface when the user holds down their finger on the screen?
  • Currently we do not allow input for watch faces. I'm not aware of any changes to allow input for watch faces, but if a case can be made for it we can take it into consideration.

    Here are two good reasons:

    1) Take a look at HugeTime in the app store (or here on the forums). What I'd really like to add to it is the ability for the user to touch the screen (or rather hold down the screen) and it to show a full screen date. Then return to the time when lifting the finger.

    2) When a user holds down the screen it shows another page with the version number of the watch face.

This feature would add all sorts of cool stuff up! Thanks for considering this...! :-)
  • I've reported this suggestion for further consideration. I can definitely see some benefits to this, but it would blur the lines a little between watch faces and widgets. At any rate, it's on the books. Thanks for your ideas!
  • Really appreciated! Yes it blurs the lines, but guys it would be soooooooo cool. We have a golden opportunity to make your devices BETTER than Apple's offerings, the Garmin hardware is CLEARLY better better you need to give us developers the tools to be able to compete with the Apple devs. I know you guys are on it and it's appreciated. Please give us the cool stuff. The usual stuff. The stuff that we are asking for.......... :-)
  • For battery life reasons, interactivity from watch faces is a difficult proposition. If you've been wearing the 920, you'll notice that the Connect IQ watch faces don't significantly affect the battery, even though they run all day with the screen on. We have to be careful so we don't face issues certain others are having with their watch faces.

In a not too distant future we'll be adding widget access to the 920. Widgets will appear in a carousel from the watch face page, and are meant to be more interactive than watch faces. We're hoping those take care of most glance-able information cases, and watch faces can focus on making core information available. For example, a colleague has written a step history widget that shows you your step history across the past week, which is a really handy app for a 24 hour step counter.

I swear, every time I have a working prototype, you guys have already done it... :(

    Hi,
is it possible now to put menu for WatchFace ?
For example, to switch on/off some part of the display like steps, battery ...
    Or to choose colors
    Thanks

Uhh? My watch my battery. If I have more functionality and load acu one per week not three its only my decision. I'm don't undestund this policy.
