How can I change the target simulator device?

I´m running the tool chain as described in the 'getting started' section and I can successfully run a sample watch face on the simulator.

Now my first problem arises: I would like to test the watch face on other devices, but I don´t know where to switch the target device. VSCode asked me once when building for the first time and now it seems to be persisted somewhere in a secret space. :)

Does someone have a quick tip where I can change the target device?

That nailed it, I was just missing the VSCode launch config! Would it make sense to add the step to the 'Getting Started' tutorial? Who´s able to do it?

In VS code, open the Command Palette, then Monkey C: Edit Products. There you can add more target devices. Then when you run your app, you see all the targets for your app and you can pick one.

That does not work for me. I already added heaps of devices (Products) in the beginning. I only had the chance once to pick a device, from then on it is persisted somewhere.

I also removed the device (Product) from the manifest.xml and ran again - the system does not present me a choice of devices, but instead throws an error that the device is not included in manifest.xml.

Oh, and operating system is Mac OS, if that makes any difference.

Open an mc in your project, copen the command palette and under Monkey C:Edit Products and make sure you have a few.

Then click on the Run menu/Run without debugger, and you get a menu like this:

I do get it, but only once. If I then choose 'Run > Stop Debugging' and afterwards 'Run > Start without Debugging' again, it does not present the choice dialog again.

Anyways, I now found out how to solve or work around the issue: closing the VSCode window and then reopening the project again enables the device choice again.

So it seems that VSCode stores some flag during runtime in memory only. I did not find anything written to disk that could be tied to this behavior.

What you are trying works fine for me. I get the list when I run with debugging, without debugging, after I stop debugging, etc

What do you see when you look at Run Apps?

CMD-SHIFT-P > Monkey C: Build Current Project

If you have a launch config (.vscode/launch.json) then you will be prompted for a device every time you run your project.

If you don't have a launch config, then you'll only be prompted the first time after opening VS Code. Afterwards, the previously built device will be used.

You need to build your project for a specific device, than that device will run with the next invokation of "Run" or "Run without debug".

Steps: ctrl-p > build project > select device > wait for build to complete > f5
