I added a FIT Write of my battery charge in my Edge 1030 data field. With the backlight at 20% always-on, I drain about 10%/hour. With the backlight off, I drain about 7.5%/hr. That is running BT connection to my phone and a pretty sophisticated CIQ data field doing all kind of calculations for my ultra-distance training and racing.
I'll move the battery FIT write to a tiny dedicated CIQ field. And then test my battery drain with:
- my CIQ DFapp running -vs- not running
- with turn-by-turn routing on -vs- off
- with BT on -vs- off
- with GPS -vs- GPS+Galileo
It'll be interesting to see the actual impact these features have on battery drain rates.
There was a battery drain glitch where it dropped 4% points in a short time. Other than that it was nicely linear for the most part. Might be a device sensitivity thing as it measures battery voltage?
