Unable to make watch face settings work..

In the sim, it's under File>Edit Persistent Storage>Edit Application.Properties Data

That doesn't work. I wonder if the simulator is buggy? I'm using Linux version. It fails with "No settings file found for this app. This app may not have settings".

Interestingly, I tried the same with the open source Crystal watch face. That app has working settings, but the simlator still fails with the same error.

Are there any spaces in your path names?  In your project's bin folder, you should see <appname>-settings.json 

It's something about your set up, as it works for others.  Search this forum as others have found a solution.  Maybe permissions on the sim's temp directory or simply restarting every thing.

What should be the location of <appname>-settings.json file, relative to the .prg file and the project root? I'm guessing maybe it's in a wrong place.

Settings don’t work for apps which were sideloaded by just copying the file to the device — you have to upload the app to the store for settings to work. You can mark an app as a beta app when you upload it, which means that it doesn’t need to be approved (you can download it instantly) and nobody else has access to it.

Both the PRG and the settings JSON should be in {PROJECT_ROOT}/bin/.

OK, I managed to edit settings of Crystal in the simulator, but my watch face's settings still doesn't work. It's generating a settings.xml file in bin/ as expected, but "Edit > Properties Data" still fails with "No settings file found for this app.". It's really frustrating..

It would be great if there were a sample, or some open source watch face, that shows nothing on screen but has settings (maybe just show the app version)..
