Hi,
I don't understand how the Trending Apps is full almost every day with the applications from two developers: VAW.BE and reno.watch. Seems to not be related with downloads and reviews.
Can a developer pay to be in Trending Apps?
Thanks

I'm assuming the store team has been tinkering again with the algorithm. As you can see it's not working well.
I've been in favor of seeing get rid of the trending category as of the get go (but no one listens to me)
I agree. Trending should just go away See, I listen Peter!
It has worked, poor rules but worked. Now - totally bummer. but no wonder how basic standards are not maintained (test on live environment, no bug fixing, not running api...)
Yes, very frustrating. At the very least, trending shouldn't be the first category on the list!
GARMIN team, is it possible to get some requirements for trending section?
Thanks
Dumb question: how do you see the trending apps?
Main page in IQ store: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/
Scroll down to Trending Apps.
Or open Connect IQ app on a phone and go to "IQ store" tab.
Hi all, VAW.BE here!
I just saw this topic mentioning Reno and I. First of all, we're not a team - we build our own watch faces and apps separately from each other, using K-Pay as the payment provider.
Anyway, as this topic is about the trending category and some devs are wondering why we're there - I try my best to create quality products with lots of options and configurations with a nice design. I’m also doing my best to help out every user that has questions or issues.
I don’t know how the trending category works (and that’s a good thing!). What I do know is that the algorithm seems to be representing “trending” apps better than last year when it was based on reviews alone, which caused developers to create lots of 'fake' reviews.
My guess is my products ended up in trending since I’ve been featured in a Garmin newsletter. I was very honoured by this mention and it caused lots of installs. I’ve also been featured in a ‘Best Garmin watch faces’ article on AndroidAuthority, which seems to be helping as well. Now and then I also invest in advertising on several platforms (Meta, Reddit, Google, etc.) to promote my work. I believe all these things combined translates to more installs, which make my products end up in trending.
I also see you guys in trending too, so I don’t see an issue here. If anyone has any questions in future, feel free to contact me as I’m always happy to help.
Have a great day!
Wim
