Garmin Time instead of UNIX

hi everyone!

I know this issue was discussed before (with jim_m_58) but could not find it...

When I use the UserActivityHistoryIterator, the startTime value returned is in Garmin Time (since 01/01/90 00:00) instead of UNIX,

Do you know if it is a time format only on the simulator? or also on real?

Is it considered as an issue or do we have to add 20year on this data?

I think it's simple UNIX epoch time.

I'm almost sure, I've checked many moment.value() and always was UNIX epoch.

It should be unix time, but new stuff sometimes has a bug where it's Garmin Time. If there's a bug, you'll usually see it in the "when" with getXYZHistory..

yes, probably body battery has bug but I thought it was like spo2 not new the time standard

Thanks! In order to test, I exported a fit from my account, do you know where I have to put it if I want tthe sim to take it?

May be it is only activity simulation which has this time issue.

maybe only sim, I've simply resigned to use it when I saw strange number do have no knowledge.

do you want put fit file from real activity to sim? I've never tried it (only playing fit file saving firm sim) but if it possible it's only place in sim - the same when you PLAY simulation for hr/spo2/steps/etc,

but you rather should write some code and run it on device to test and compare values to connect

First place I'd try is in the sim's temp directory, put in in garmin/activities. That's where the fit files are on a real devices when you save and exit a recording.

I'm not sure what time format Garmin uses, but the time format since 01/01/1990 00:00:00 is called FIT Epoch. You can see this when you replay a fit in the sim.

"The FIT Profile defines the date_time type as an uint32 that represents the number of seconds since midnight on December 31, 1989 UTC*. This date is often referred to as the FIT Epoch."

In CIQ, everything should be in unix time (unix epoch - Midnight Jan 1 1970). Search this form and CIQ bug reports and you'll see Fit epoch is commonly called Garmin time - when Garmin started. In the past, there are been bugs where things related to SensorHistory have also shown garmin time instead of unix time.

Yes, but apparently OP replays a fit in sim and wonders why the timestamp isn't UNIX Epoch. I noticed that in fit files the timestamp is always stored as FIT Epoch, as clearly described in the fit documentation. So if you replay a fit in sim and output the timestamp, you get the FIT Epoch without any conversion. If the timestamp should used for additional calculations with the CIQ Time class it has to be converted to UNIX Epoch, either in the sim or from the dev.
