I found https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/core-topics/activity-recording/, but it looks like saving the FIT file in that way syncs the file to Garmin connect, which it looks like you can then access through https://developer.garmin.com/gc-developer-program/activity-api/. Instead of that, is it possible for apps to access FIT files they recorded directly without the overhead of round-tripping through Garmin Connect?
