Is Toybox.Communications available for Edge devices?

I was going through documentation and looks like Communications API is not available for Data fields.
For Edge devices on the other hand Data fields is only thing available.

Is there any timeline for Communications coming to data fields or otherwise available to Edge devices?

WatchApp and Widget support is expected to come to the Edge devices in a future update. Those app types will have access to the Communications APIs.

I can of course start developing and testing as a watch widget, but as the app (on Edge) would be needed in late july. It would be nice to know if the effort would be worth it. :)

Are there any updates on using the Communications API on an Edge device (e.g. the Edge 1000)? On my Vivoactive HR the communication with my Android phone works fine, but I can't send anything from my phone to the Edge 1000 or vice versa.

This is in the change log for the 2.2.2 SDK (It's in the README file in the root of the SDK directory)

Remove support for communicating with the mobile Connect IQ SDK in the API for Edge, Oregon, and Rino devices.

It looks like Brandon's comment was about adding the Widget and device-app app types to the devices.

Why did they remove the support for communicating with the mobile Connect IQ SDK? Will it ever come back?
