EXTENTION FOR DEBUGGING XML

Good afternoon all

Im new to this and have been following the guide, Do i need a specific xml editor from the marketplace. As when i select below i get the error "You dont have an extension for debugging XML. Should we find a XML extention in the Marketplace?"

*************Running the Program

Before running the program, make sure you have one of your source files (In the source folder with the .mc extension) open and selected in the editor.

Select Run > Run Without Debugging (Command + F5 on Mac, Ctrl + F5 on other platforms)
You will be prompted with the list of products your application supports. Select one from the list.

If all goes well, the simulator will start up and the selected watch will appear: ***************

Hi,

just make sure you have a mc file open when you hit "run with debugging", then it should be fine...

The xml files are compiled into something usable in the prg or used for app settings and fit contrib so aren't actually used as xml file when you run. The debugger in the Monkey C extention is for debugging mc code. Look at resources in the various docs for how most xml files are used. (settings and fit contrib xml files becaome json files in your bin folder)

Thanks for your reply. Iv just been following the guide and it says to run it like so in the guide, so is the guide incorrect?

As I said any xml other than for settings or fitcontrib is used to build the resources that are compiled into your code. There's no debugging of xml in an app once it's compiled.

Actually, having an open mc file isn't needed. You can open a list of apps in your workspaces, and run the app or run tests in the app.

At the bottom of the list you can add configs for apps that don't have one yet
