New va fw 3.50 things of interest to CIQ developers!

With vivoactive 3.50 FW, on data screens, you can now select a 1,2, or 3 field layout! What this means, is if you coded a DF for the va, you may want to be ready for questions about how it looks odd in a one or two field layout. The simulator doesn't allow changing the # of df's right now, so no easy way to test if you don't have the actual device. This has been reported to Garmin.

When running a CIQ watch-app, it may fire up GPS even if the app doesn't request it, and keep it on the entire time the app runs (I've only seen this with watch-apps - not watch-faces or widgets) and it will drain the battery FAST. I've found if this happens, make sure that on the watch, in settings>Sensors, make sure GPS is "off". GPS will still be used when it's needed, but not when it wasn't. This has been reported to Garmin.

The 1 and 2 field layouts work on the va itself, but you can't use it in the simulator today (it's only 3 fields there). There is an SDK file that contains the DF layouts, and you can guess at a few values and add 1 or 2 for the va in the simulator, but you may want to wait for the Garmin CIQ folks for specifics and instructions. If you DIY, save it off before you change it, in case something goes wrong, as it's a very key file. :)
