Move Alert vibration

With the most recent firmware release on the Vivosmart HR, Garmin reduced the Move Alert vibration intensity to an ineffective level. A Garmin moderator posted in the Vivosmart HR forum that this was done by design and would be the standard for all activity trackers going forward. I was told by customer service that it was for better battery life. I haven't had a problem with battery life and do have a problem with the new standard. Now, I know that this device is not a part of Connect IQ, but the forthcoming Vivoactive HR will be. So my questions are in regards to that device.
First, is the vibration level of the Move Alert something that can be adjusted with a Connect IQ app? I'm guessing no to this question, which brings me to...
Second, can a Connect IQ app be developed that replaces the Move Alert built into the device? With the Vivosmart HR, the Move Alert can be turned off. So, can an app do the same thing, instead of using the native function?

I maybe should have prefaced by saying that I have zero experience with app development or Connect IQ. I've not owned a device that is in the Connect IQ umbrella.
  • Connect IQ does have the capability of producing vibration alerts within Connect IQ apps, allowing control of things like the length and frequency (i.e. intensity) of the vibration. There isn't a way to modify the move alert with Connect IQ, however, and you wouldn't be able to write a replacement for the native move alert because Connect IQ apps do not currently run in the background.

There's potential for this in the future, I suppose, but I think it's unlikely we'd design something intended expressly so developers can override native behaviors. We generally tend to let devices do what they will do outside of Connect IQ, but allow Connect IQ to have full control inside Connect IQ apps.
