Simulator: No settings file found for this app. This app may not have settings.

When trying to move away from Eclipse (Mac), I'd love to use the Settings editor within the Simulator. But when doing File > Edit Persistent Storage > Properties: I'm seeing this error: "No settings file found for this app. This app may not have settings." While it definitely has settings which work on the Eclipse settings editor.

Any clue what I'm missing here?

I was having the same issue last night and it fixed when I did File -> "Reset all app data" on the Simulator

Another thought. Do a "Monkeyc: new project" in VS code, select a watch face, with settings. Also do an "Edit Products".to add a target device.

See if that works. That eliminates anything with your projects.

I have a similar issue but the watch face with setting works but a pull from git does not.

Is there potentially a change to the Settings.xml structure as the working watchace has properties.xml and settings.xml in the "settings" folder" where as the git pull which is not working only had properties.xml which contained all info

Hope this makes sense? I am VERY new and just trying to setup my environment, this is the last hurdle (I hope)

So are the settings defined in properties.xml? Or are they in settings.xml (I put my settings and the strings used for settings in properties.xml, but not everyone does that). If you don't have a definition for the settings in an xml, you won't be able to use settings in the sim

The setting were all in the propertirs.xml. I moved them out to a settings.xml but that's made no difference to the ability to view /change settings via the simulator.

trying to find a good guide for VSC monkeyc and some good working example code is a real headache

The samples in the SDK will get you started, and in VS Code, With "Monkey C: New Project", you can use a template and create any app type, and in the case of a watch face, with or without settings.

Thanks Jim, I fixed my issue with the settings not being available. It was a space in the project folder name it seems

For me everything worked a few days. I do run scripts and copy projects, build them, create custom settings via script and suddenly the SIM was not able to open one of my WFs settings anymore. "Delete all apps", closing the SIM, rebuilding the project and restarting the SIM did help in my case.

I'm having the same problem, tried even an app downloaded from git. Not only that the sim doesn't work, but the app is now live and the setting don't have any effect on the app, the values don't change.

I'm using a mac m1, could something go wrong on this configuration?
