Installing Garmin SDK in command line

Hello,

I'm really new to Garmin development. I'm just starting a new project but as I does for all my other project, I first setup all my CI environement to directly have continuous builds. For that, I need to install Garmin SDK and all devices directly from command line. I have been able to install connectIQ in command line but cannot find the trick to install all the devices directly from the command line. As it seems that SDK Manager has now command line support, I'm not sure about how to proceed.

Basically the question is: "how can I install all Garmin devices without using SDK manager"

PS: I'm running on Ubuntu 20.04

You need to use the SDK Manager.

Nope. My understanding is it's GUI only and has to be the same user that going to use the sdk and devices,

And this isn't a one time thing as the SDK and Devices get updated at times. Devices were updated not long ago for the venu2+ for example.

I just managed to have it working.
For ConnectIQ sdk I directly download and install it with wget from the garmin download website. For the Devices I just installed everything on my computer and then Zipped the folder ~/.Garmin/ConnectIQ/Device. Then on my CI I just pull and unzip the Devices folder to the right place. Then everything is building on my new install on the CI without the need of any UI tool.

But as Jim pointed out, the devices get updated every now and then. So that’s going to be a manual step for you to update them in your CI. (It also means that you won’t have 100% reproducible builds unless you apply your own versioning system to the device downloads.)

For example, in the past, the definition for a device has contained an error which was fixed in a later update. (One example is where the Enduro was mistakenly defined as supporting live glances, when the actual device does not.) Most of the device stuff only affects how it runs in the simulator afaik, but I imagine there must be a few things which affect the build output and/or tests.

The key phrase here is continuous integration (which includes, as the OP mentioned, continuous builds), which is why I mentioned it specifically.

I assume that for normal interactive testing or retrieval of bug reports, OP can use the UI.

Then again, people have asked for automation of things like the simulator, and I recall the response was "pretty much nobody wants that." Which is sort of a funny catch-22: "don't ask for things that nobody wants." (By that logic, there's no point in asking for anything.)
