App Store Fixes

Last week, our app store team completed a deployment that should have fixed a couple of annoyances for Connect IQ developers:

1. You should again be able to download apps from the store when they are pending
2. You will now be able to test app settings on pending apps

#2 is really the big one--this means that you won't need to have a beta or test app approved on the store to experiment with or test app settings.
  • Is there some way for a developer to indicate an app should be temporarily left in the pending state for testing purposes? Can a published app be moved back to the pending state?
  • Unfortunately, there's not a good way to do this yet... but this is something that's planned.

For now, even though it's kind of jankety, I'd recommend putting "DO NOT APPROVE" in the app title and/or description so we'll see it and know not to approve the app. That's what I've been doing with some of our own apps that need to be held in a pending state until a certain date. If an app does get approved and it needs to be set back to pending, we can always reject the app. As harsh as "reject" sounds, it just places the app back into a pending state.
