How can a user find out which system level is on the device?

Do I well think that the system level is the first number of CIQ version?

My f6p has CIQ 3.2.8 - level 3? Venu 2 should have CIQ 4.x - level 4. Yes?

Is does mean that if some device has level X it support all level less than X, so if my f6p will get level 5 it means that will support createBufferedBitmap?

I can't still run fenix6prosystem5preview device

how to fix it?

Don't confuse "System" with CIQ API version. For example, even if the f6pro will become "System 5", it's API level will move from 3.2 to 3.3.x, and it's API level 4.x.0 that uses createBufferedBitmap

If you look at the API doc, createBufferedBitmap is "Since API level 4.0.0".

On the other hand, Stress data will come to System 5 devices, but for that, you see "Since API Level 3.3.0", so you can use it on a f6pro once that get's "system 5"/Api Level 3.3.x

Garmin should have sticked with one version number, this extra System versioning is just confusing people....

The problem is when people ask "has my watch system 5?". And how to answer?

For example venu 2 has 5.33 firmware but what is the system level? What CIQ version is on device?

For me simple solution is like I mentioned CIQ version should shows it.

What about fenix6prosystem5preview - how to solve problem? Why Garmin publish something what from beginning not run (maybe it runs in VC but in eclipse dosn't).

As of now, no devices have "System 5". Some will be getting it later on. This is why there are the two "System 5 Preview" devices, where you can test the upcoming features in the sim

With the "f6 Pro system 5 preview" you must use VS Code and not Eclipse, and the 4.1.0-beta1 SDK for the new features and as I said, no actual device has System 5 today.

It’s not explained well at all, but System 5 is:

- CIQ 3.3 (for devices on 3)

- CIQ 4.1 (for devices on 4)

They obviously created system levels because they want to be able to add new common features without incrementing the major version of CIQ on a device, but I don’t think this has been communicated properly.

Last time I checked, you should be able to test with the Venu 2 System 5 preview in Eclipse. I’ve already complained in the forums that the F6 Pro preview doesn’t work in Eclipse but idk if Garmin cares. The joke is that it’s failing bc of the empty Target API level list, but it’s been well known for years that Target API does absolutely nothing (I don’t think it even changes the command that’s run). So it’s failing bc of a broken option that nobody needs and which doesn’t do anything, afaik.

You may be able to get it build and run using the command line.

Probably target is used for choosing MIR file or should it. If an option is not needed for anything then what it is for at all?

This to me is a push by Garmin to get devs to use VS Code instead of Eclipse.

While today, only the "f6 Pro System 5 Preview" has 3.3 as a base, I'm sure that will change fairly soon as actual devices start getting a 3.3 VM.
