Migrate to VS Code from Eclipse on Mac

I am starting by setting up a new project but it's not compiling and I'm getting errors from the compiler that I don't understand.

I suspect it's struggling with the space in the "Application Support" folder name in /Users/{myUserName}/Library/Application Support/Garmin/ConnectIQ/Sdks/connectiq-sdk-mac-4.0.6-2021-10-06-af9b9d6e2

And also I have not found where I associate my Developer Key to the VS installation.

Could someone help me with this please?

Hi, I am using Vscode on my mac for garmin dev as well. Did you verify installation?

You can try this command as a workaround for the bug invovled by Garmin Vscode plugin latest version. Then use Run without debugging to start your program in the simulator

# change dir to the home of you project
cp bin/*.prg $TMPDIR/GARMIN/APPS/

Yes, and the third time I recognised the prompt (black on black!) to enter the Developer Key. Wasn't expecting it so I didn't see it.

Now, I'm getting a compile but it's failing at "Unable to connect to simulator."

I tried the old trick of starting the simulator at the terminal, but then the simulator fails with

"Failed to launch the device: Timeout" and this dialog box opens:

That looks a bit drastic.

I thought the Garmin VS Code plugin had advanced from Beta to Production.

What's the story here?

And what is the significance of "Run without debugging"? Doesn't the debugger work yet?

I think I'll wait until Garmin has a complete solution.

I don't have the time or energy to work with an incomplete IDE.

I'll come back in 6 months to review progress.

From "News and Announcements"

"We are not deprecating the Eclipse plug-in at this time, but we also are not planning any future enhancements for the plug-in. All new development will be focused on the Visual Studio Code extension."

The first thing I've seen that doesn't work in eclipse is you can't use the F6pro System 5 Preview device (It's base CIQ version is 3.3.0)
