Check if backlight is ON.

Hi,

I wonder if there is an API to check if backlight is ON/OFF?

I found this topic: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/discussion/1234/backlight-status-checking-howto/7237?focus=true, but maybe this has changed over the past 6 years.

I don't really any changes in this area, and I don't see anything in the API guide (System Stats or Device settings would be where I'd expect it.

What is your use case?

I'd like to adjust animations when backlight is off (basically decrease the frame rate).

What App type and what device? You can really only do animations in a watch face when it's in high power mode (a max of about 10 seconds at a time) And based on the display type, MIP looks best in full sunlight, regardless of the backlight.

Device apps for large variety of devices. As a reference - default Breathwork app, but in my case there'll be very long sessions.

With MIP displays the backlight might not make much difference in well lit conditions, and doing too much animation could have a big hit on the battery

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. My idea was to slow down animations to 1 fps as soon as the backlight goes off. But I guess I'll need to have some kind of a timer.
