GCM French language corrupting float input.

Hey everyone, this beauty has just come out of left field.

I have an app Setting , that is a latitude/longitude entry using decimal degrees ( same as Google earth )

According to one of my French users, in their version of GCM they cannot enter anything but commas, since French uses commas instead of decimal points.

If he tries to enter a decimal point, GCM doesn't let him, if he enters a comma it causes an error since its meant to be decimal.

Any ideas if there is a way out of this ?

Have him try the Connect IQ app instead of GCM.

hi, it will be the same issue with GIQ (I'm french), it depends on the phone not necessary on the app,

on my android for example, on GCM the coordinates look like xx,xxxxx but can't enter a ",",

on GIQ, look like xx.xxx but can't enter a point,

on some device, the trick is: copy/past (but not on all devices)

but the best way is to set the coordinate through Garmin Express.

Ok, so I suggested he changes his phone language to English, then use GCM or IQ for the data entry and sync, then phone back to French.... what a pain !!! The issue with express is that it seems buggy on pc/mac

Tell him to try the copy past.

He will have also an issue with the "-" like I have...

So copy /paste done save and then sync? He says even after copy paste, when he checks the format it has changed itself. From 32.75577 to 32755.77 for example.

You think garmin express will work ?

I have a user reporting the same problem. Android GCM using Romanian.

Hi guys, I have raised a ticket about this a month ago or so... You are right the issue is that GCM uses input settings from a persons phone. There is no option to use . at all if french is selected, and because the GCM setting is " alphanumeric" I also found that after entering a decimal number, the software automatically moves the comma to a different location to make it a number rather than a decimal.

If GCM had an ability to input a float or string instead of alphanumeric, I think that would work. No idea if that is a possibility or not though but for now french users cannot do anything but change their phone and watch to english, input the data then change everything back to french.
