Burn-in protection for builtin watch faces?

Hi, I have a Venu 2 and I "created" a watch face on the device itself. I really like it but would like to create something similar using Connect IQ. However I'm not sure if I can do that, because in always-on mode, the builtin watch face draws the time in the same location all the time and I read that Connect IQ watch faces have burn-in protection and I can't leave the same pixel on for more than 3 minutes.

So my questions: do builtin watch faces indeed leave pixels on for > 3 minutes at a time or is there some other trick? If yes, is this safe or should I be worried about burn-in from this?

Native watch faces to have the same kind of restrictions. They don't keep the same pixel on for a long time. There are two ways I handle this in CIQ.

1) I move the data around so the same pixel isn't on that long - say display in the top half of the display, then the bottom half, then the top half

2) display in the same location, but use a "checkerboard" to overlay it, shifting it one pixel back and forth so half the pixels are off, but which half changes every minute. The time may look a bit dimmer, but it's stationary.

And using on device settings, you can easily change between "Moving Time" and "Dimmer Time"

So the builtin watch face must be doing something like 2) then I guess. Maybe I'll give that a try.

Yes, something like #2, but may do things a bit differently as they are not written with CIQ.
