HRM detection by Simulator

Hi,

I have a chest-strap running HRM that is not being detected by the CIQ Simulator's ANT+ sensor manager. It is not a Garmin unit, it is a "Mover" by Magene.

The Simulator is running with CIQ 3.2.5, and the same problem also occurs on earlier CIQ 3 versions. The Simulator is connected to an ANT USB Stick 2 running on Windows. The Simulator does detect speed and cadence sensors (which are both also not Garmin units) without problems, it is just the HRM that does not appear in the sensor manager's list of devices.

The perplexing thing is that the unit is working fine. It is detected by an FR935, it is detected by the ANT wireless in a Sony Xperia Z5, and it is also detected by Simulant 2.3.0 (as a Heart Rate Display on Ch. 1, with a manufacturer id of 107) running on the same Windows as the CIQ Simulator.

I can find no diagnostics to assist in determining what might be the cause of the issue. There are no log or error files in the CIQ SDK directory.

I was just wondering if anyone has any clues ?

Thanks,
DW

  • I am having a similar issue. It used to work, all this same hardware, but that may have been over 2 years ago, not used in a while.

    My equipment:

    - older Garmin HRM1G Heart Rate Monitor chest strap

    - Suunto USB ANT+ dongle

    - another generic USB ANT+ dongle

    - Windows 10(of course there have been lots of updates since i last did this)

The chest strap is working with devices like Edge820, no problems.

In the simulator/Settings/Manage Ant+ sensors i can see another devices (bike lights), but the HRM does not appear. I presume i will need it to appear, then i can select pair on the HRM device to pair it with the simulator.

I have left the 'Manage Ant+ sensors' window open a long time, and can see the bike light appear quickly but that is all. I am able pair/unpair the lights.

The USB dongle show as 'ANT USB Stick 2' and since it can see the bike light i think that should be fine.

My goal is to use the HRM while developing in the simulator.

Is it possible there is something messed in the simulator regarding HRM?

Are there logs anywhere that might give insight into the issue?

I have loaded up sample apps that use heart rate but they show no data. If i use the simulator to simulate data, then this works, but i want real data from the heart rate belt.

I do recall this being finicky before. Rebooted, and tried several things to no avail. Tried both SDK 3.2.5 and 4.0.4
