Can't find beta app in connectIQ store

I have an app marked as Beta (in development) uploaded to the ConnectIQ store.  However it is not showing up in the ConnectIQ android app.  I am uploading from developer dadshboard of same account I am logged into ConnectIQ store with on the phone.

Am I doing something wrong?  If so what do I need to do to test Garmin Connect FitContributor fields, and settings?

  • You have to access beta apps from your developer dashboard, and they only show up for the developer account.  You can use the download button to select any device linked to the connect account associated with the developer.  Once you select download, it will install the next time the device syncs with Garmin Connect either through the mobile all or the desktop app.  Once it is installed through the developer dashboard, you should be able to see the FitContributor fields and settings just like a fully approved app.

  • Perfect, thank you.

  • The problem for me is that the web page doesn't always show the additional compatible device for me after uploading a new version where I added support for another model. I've opened the built iq file and the device is listed in the manifest. I often have to upload another version before it becomes available. There seems to be some caching or delay.

  • Once you update an app. it can take a couple hours to be checked and the update approved.

  • This is a beta app, which doesn't go through that process afaik. This cache / delay failure to update properly is something I've experienced several times and why my app has so many version updates just to get it to update.

  • Yeah, given that beta apps are typically available instantly after the initial upload, it wouldn't make sense for subsequent updates to be subject to any kind of delay / approval process

  • I've seen a bit of delay, even with beta apps, as I think there's some kind of check that still happens.  What I usually do, is just check a while later with the CIQ mobile app and see if an update is available.  Also, with Garmin Express, you may get it a bit sooner.
