Catalan Language for Fenix 3

Hi all,

I have translated the Spanish language file to catalan language. It took me a few hours. Now I go to Garmin \ TEXT folder and if I go to Settings => Language not I get the Catalan.

I wanted to check that everything works before sharing.

I'll try.

Well, does not operate by copying the folder TEXT or NewFiles.

Any suggestions.

Thank yo

Are you referring to translating the native strings file into Catalan? If so you will have better luck posting your question on the fenix 3 forum. This forum is specifically targeted at Connect IQ apps which run on a VM on top of the device's firmware.

I asked GARMIN, and they say the following:

I suspect when you contacted the developer program they didn't understand what you were wanting to do (or possibly I'm not understanding).

My understanding is that you translated the GARMIN/TEXT/<Spanish language file> into Catalan. This file is used by the device's firmware. Connect IQ does not use this file. Posting in the fenix 3 forum I linked might lead you to an answer as to how you could load a new language file manually as I'm not really sure how to do it. If it's not possible to do this someone from the fenix 3 team may be willing to take your file and open a ticket to add native support for Catalan (the hardest part about adding a language tends to be getting the strings translated). Obviously I can't promise they would add support as I'm not on that team but it's worth asking.

One thing you might be able to do is save the Catalan file over top of the Spanish file (use the same name but with your Catalan translations), restart the device and select Spanish as the system language. The device might just load the new translations and you'd have Catalan displaying. This would obviously involve messing around with device firmware files which can lead to bad things happening to your device so you'd be doing so at your own risk.
