What's the story with Fenix6 pro solar?

Can someone summarise the situation wit the Fenix 6 pro solar please? I see a few discussions but haven't the energy to wade through them.

I'm running CIQ 3.1.8 and it isn't on the devices list. (Can't run 3.1.9 on Mac, and anyhow it isn't there either)

A potential user has bought one and can't run my app.

You really want to move to the 3.2 SDKs 3.2.5 is the latest.

Starting with 3.2.0, devices are a separate download and independent of the SDK.

No. Supporting it started with 3.2. A number of devices have been added since the 3.1.x SDKs, and the 4.0 SDK is currently in preview. You really want to move to a 3.2.x SDK with the new scheme for devices.

I'm looking at devices.xml from the connectiq-sdk-win-3.1.8-2020-05-01-05516d846 SDK and I see the entry for fenix6xpro lists 6X Pro Solar as a target.

I'm not sure what you are wanting people to summarize. The fenix6xpro configuration should work to simulate a Solar device. If memory serves, the only real difference that I think you should see on device would be the partNumber and the solarIntensity.

I think OP is referring to "Fenix 6 Pro Solar" tho, not "Fenix 6X Pro Solar".

A quick check of 3.1.8's devices.xml confirms that the latter is supported and not the former.

The store listing for their app indicates the same:

It seems that if you want to support the Solar variant of Fenix 6 / 6S / 6 Pro / 6S Pro, you have to upgrade to one of the CIQ 3.2 SDKs, as Jim said.

Just my 2 cents: the only problem I have with moving to later SDKs is that sometimes memory usage increases (at least according to the sim), which makes me nervous about rebuilding apps for old watches.

I wish there was a way to build CIQ 1 and CIQ 2 devices with older SDKs, since there's often nothing in the new SDKs for them anyway.

Having said that, I always end up moving to later SDKs anyway, otherwise it would be impossible to support newer devices.
