After poping current view, how to refresh the view at top of view stack?

Hi, I encountered a problem yesterday.

In a menu2 list, a menu item called Mode Settings has a sublabel indicating the current mode like Active: Run. If I select this item and change to another mode like Bicycle, after returning to the previous view, what should I do to refresh the menu list? As expected, the list item's sublabel should be Active: Bicycle.

I don’t know if I made it clear for you to get it.

The way I do it is in pass in the parent Menu2 (e.g. the menu which contains "Mode Settings") and the ID of the parent item (e.g. "Mode Settings") to the submenu's input delegate.…

Another way you could do it might be to override the onShow() handler for the parent menu, and update any items which have changed. This might be better depending on how your menu and code is architected…

Note that on a real device, onShow() *may* not be called every time it's expected (or every time that you'd see it called on the sim).

The way I do it is in pass in the parent Menu2 (e.g. the menu which contains "Mode Settings") and the ID of the parent item (e.g. "Mode Settings") to the submenu's input delegate.

In the submenu input delegate's onSelect() handler, I have code which:

- Gets the menu item from the parent menu using Menu2.findItemById() and Menu2.getItem()

- Determines the new label from the selected item.

- Sets the sublabel using Menu2.setSubLabel() and Menu2.updateItem()

e.g.

class CfgMenuDelegate_ciq3 extends WatchUi.Menu2InputDelegate {
	var parentmenu;
	var parentmenu_itemId;
	function initialize(parentmenu, parentmenu_itemId) {
		Menu2InputDelegate.initialize();
		self.parentmenu = parentmenu;
		self.parentmenu_itemId = parentmenu_itemId;
	}

	function onSelect(item) {
		var item_id = item.getId();

		var parent_idx = parentmenu.findItemById(parentmenu_itemId);
		var parent_item = parentmenu.getItem(parent_idx);
		if (parent_item)
		{
            var newSubLabel = ...; // some calculation or lookup based on item/item_id
			parent_item.setSubLabel(newSubLabel);
			parentmenu.updateItem(parent_item, parent_idx);
			WatchUi.popView(WatchUi.SLIDE_RIGHT);
		}
	}
}

onShow() ⇒ Toybox.Lang.Boolean

Show the View.

This is called when the View is brought into the foreground. Resources should be loaded into system memory for use in the View at this point.
