Firmware versions - check newest available version (APAC, europe, beta) + supported CIQ

Actually I'd like to know how I can do following:

Precondition

Model name is known, e.g. Fenix 6X Pro Solar

Question 1 - How can I find the newest firmware (beta) versions?

I can only find following overview pages:

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/641435/pn/010-02157-00 => the main watchface page, it contains a link at the bottom to the software page for this device (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?partNumber=010-02157-00&tab=software) but there is no link to the firmware (on neither of those pages).

Via google I find following links:

https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=15033 => Firmware 15.20

https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=15167 => Firmware 15.71 Beta

Those seem to be the newest firmware versions, but I don't know how to control this assumption.

Question 2 - How to know if a firmware is made for APAC or europe?

Checking the firmware links above, I don't know if they work on a europe watchface and/or APAC watchface

Question 3 - How to know if a firmware supports CIQ 3.2?

I know the newest firmware for the 6x pro does support CIQ3.2 - but how do I know which firmware introduced this CIQ update?

  • So if I enable Fenix 6x devices and set min CIQ to 3.2 and a user has a fenix 6x device with CIQ 3.2 (or higher) installed I still can't be sure that my WF works on his device?

    And what do you mean with the device lags? The user probably has a APAC device but this already is updated - it has CIQ 3.2.4 installed - so what is lagging here? Is the SDK lagging behind because it does not know yet that there are APAC versions with CIQ3.2 of fenix 6x devices? Is that what you mean?

  • If I lower then min CIQ to 3.1 what will happen? The chinese use can install the WF even though the SDK is behind and does not know that his device is able to have CIQ3.2 installed. But when the WF is installed on his device - what will the WF think? Will the CIQ3.2 features work on this device or now?

  • You can't use 3.2 features like weather until the watch gets 3.2

    In this case, sounds like your user has 3.2 so something like weather should work, but other users with the same watch may still be on 3.1.  That's why "has" is really handy in cases like this.
