Eclipse plugin unsuccessful with Eclipse 2020-12

I tried today to open my Connect IQ datafield project after several months away from it. I found that my existing installation of Eclipse, the 2019 version, was unable to open the manifest file now (Problem reading manifest). No change in files, it just wouldn't open.

So I figured that I'd do a fresh install, and downloaded the latest Eclipse, and followed the installation steps. However, although the Install New Software dialog shows the Connect IQ plugin as installed, and I already have the SDK Manager up and running, none of the Connect IQ settings appear in Eclipse preferences, and the Perspective isn't given as a choice in the menu.

Anything I can do? I don't have another machine handy to try on.

OK, I finally beat it into submission. I had to move aside my eclipse-workspace directory, then install Eclipse afresh, and then the plugins. Then I copied my projects back into the workspace directory…

What happens when you select File > New > Project? Is Connect IQ Project an option?

Can you try installing Eclipse 2019-09 in a different folder and seeing if Monkey C still works with it?

No, it isn't an option. So something didn't install, but I've tried removing and reinstalling the plugin twice. Huh, are there known problems with the 2020 version of Eclipse when used with Connect IQ?

No, I was just curious.

I just installed Eclipse 2020-12R in a new folder on a Windows 10 machine (which already has eclipse 2019-09 installed, along with Monkey C). Connect IQ on the newly installed Eclipse works for me.

Maybe try to make a temporary new user account on your computer, see if something's up with your environment?

Pretty strange problem tho.

That makes sense, as the eclipse workspace directory also stores plugin state/settings. I should've mentioned that I purposely chose a new workspace folder when installed the new eclipse (just to try to install as cleanly as possible)

The following discussion is a bit old but it looks the answer depends on how you install eclipse. I've generally only used Eclipse on Windows tho.

(If you need to manually install plugins, I think you want to install Eclipse using the method which installs plugins to a subfolder of your home dir, as opposed to installing plugins directly into the app package.)

eclipse support is discontinued, I believe the plugin may no longer be offered at all

I know it has not support anymore, it's just eclipse arm is a lot faster than visual code
