Data Screen and Data Field...

Hello,

If I understood everything, a data screen is composed with some data fields... If I rode a new data field, I have to plan to adapt it to be included with other data field (because user can choose a layout with 4 data fields for example).

If my first sentence is right, how can I disable the layout on a data screen to be sure to have only my data field in the data screen ? The "Visual HR Zones" garmin's data field seems to be able to do that : there is no layout menu on it...

So my querstion is : can I have only one data field that use all the data screen or it's not possible ?

I'm pretty sure no Connect IQ field can literally disable the data screen layout option.

You can, but you have to ask your users to set the data field layout to 1 field. Some data fields will automatically adapt their output to 1 field or multiple layouts (this is fairly rare), other fields only work properly in a 1 field layout (and look wrong when the layout is other than 1 field) and still others display information so simple that it doesn't matter whether the layout is 1 field or multiple fields.

Visual HR Zones is something native (not done in CIQ) and not really a data field. A DF can't specify the layout for the data screen - only figure out what it was given.

What I see is similar to the watch face you can include in the loop of data screens (not the one in the widget loop), where remove and reorder are the only options. It could be it's only native on some devices.

Yes. I think the only way to do this is with DataField.getObscurity().

Or you can just design your field for 1-field layout and ask your users to always use that layout. I personally do this to save memory on older devices, as I don't want to waste precious RAM with the code to do this check (as my full-screen fields are useless outside of full page mode.)

Yes, the visual HR screen is a native data page on some devices, but surely Fredo was referring to the CIQ "Visual HR Zones" data field app. I could be wrong here tho.

For example, on my 935, the screen you're referring to is called "HR Gauge".

The confusion probably stems from the fact that there's a native field and a CIQ field which look and function very similarly.

I made some tests yesterday, and I'm able to check if my field is alone or not now. In cas it's alone, not problem, I display my informations, but in the other case, on the SIM, I wanted to display a message as "Sorry, I need to be alone" and I saw green lines... So strange... An idea ?

I found the solution... So stupid Fredo... I called drawText to display text with a number font... :(
