HTTP request over device Wi-Fi specification

I was reading in the documentation, regarding the http Communications moudule, that:

"Monkey C exposes a high level APIs to allow calls to basic web services through Garmin Connect Mobile"

Does that mean that i can only make http request trough the Garmin Connect app ?
By trying to make a http request with the Communications modules on a simulated device i've notice that i'm able to make a succesfull request even when i'm not connected to a phone device. Does that mean that i can also make a htt request over the Garmin device Wi-fi without passing trough the Garmin Connect app ?
Is there any way to check programmatically if the Garmin devies have a built in network support ?

If you want to use WiFi, you really should be using the Communications.SyncDelegate. This functionality was created specifically for this use case as it should ensure that WiFi is on when the sync is started.

If you're not using the SyncDelegate and are connected over Bluetooth, then you are gambling which link is going to be used.

One thing to keep in mind is that not all watches in the current generation have wifi. The f6 pro devices, yes, the non pro devices no. The va Sq music, yes, the non music version no, Same with the music versions of the 245 and 645 vs the non-music versions

Many users ask me to launch request directly from WiFi, but I never found the way to do it, here is the solution !

Take a look on my widget (APICall), you talked about call APIs (IFTTT etc ...), that exactly what do the widget ;o)
I totally rewrote the way to configure, so I am ready to add POST method and display a result. The release is ready to deploy, I'm just waiting 1 week more that all users have migrated to last major release.

I was i tending to write me own and started planning before I thought "hey, someone has probably tried to do this already..."
I did try your APICall Widget but I don't think I'd realised at that point you needed the App open tp proxy, not just the watch showing the phone is connected!
I at least think that I didn't have the App open, or, I was too far away from the phone.
myHomeControl was next to test, but at that time I think I had the App open and I had my phone in my hand, so it did work.
Then I dropped my phone while testing and smashed the screen :-(

I'll give your new release a crack.

For now, the watch must be linked to Garmin Connect via Bluetooth (same requirement as to receive notifications). For the next version (12/02) this will still be the case. I will try to add the possibility of sending directly to WiFi for a future version.

One thing to keep in mind with a widget doing wifi is that on some devices, the widget timeout is as short as about 40 seconds - the va4 and venu for example.

With wifi, there generally won't be a wifi connection and one needs to be established, which takes some time (20 seconds?)

Both are things you won't see in the sim.
