Sideloading an app from a Mac

With MTP devices (music devices) you need to use something like this on a MAC:

You probably need to first build to your hard drive and then copy it over, I'm not sure.

I previously downloaded Android File Transfer as I saw it mentioned elsewhere, but being as the Garmin device isn't running Android, I don't know how it can be used to help. Can you please explain?

It's that the garmin devices are MTP - like an andriod device can be.

Apple only supports their own media devices.

Garmin Express knows how to access MTP devices on a mac, but conflicts with the app I mentioned. so only run one at a time.

This has been the case since the first Garmin Music device.

Yeah, personally I wouldn't build directly to the device's storage, because it might be a lot slower than your Mac's drive, and it could slow the build down. Like Jim said, build to your Mac's drive, then copy it over.

I know the non-music devices have pretty slow storage, not sure about the music devices.

OK, I understand not to build directly to the device, but how do I copy the build over to the watch? Android File Transfer doesn't recognise the watch as a device, so it's just plugged into my Mac not doing anything but charging. I've also now tried OpenMTP and that didn't mount the watch as a file system either. I can't see any option in Garmin Express for copying files over?
