Cryptic PRG CIQ Names

Last dumb question for today.... Is there a way to explain to a user how to know which PRG file on their device is related to a particular CIQ app? So they can create the associated LOG (*.txt) file to capture output?

Yes, I know this isn't a suggested approach to providing interesting activity-related data to a user, but it is the best way for what I'm doing.

And yes, I know you can sometimes figure it out by the file timestamp based on downloading the CIQ app - but often many/all the PRG timestamps are adjusted during a sync.

I understand Garmin has a way to reverse engineer a PRG encoded file back to something like source code... so maybe there is a decoder ring?

In my case, the app is the one starting with a "C"... but I only figured that out by creating all four *.TXT files in the LOG folder and saw which one was updated.

Another option is to save the "tapped" location in Application.Storage. That's exactly what I do in my hiking apps for waypoints. Next time the app runs I use those saved locations, but I also have a setting as far as how close they need to be to show - I don't need the locations in the south part of the state if I'm in the north.

Great idea... but I need the user to be able to go grab the saved data after, the activity - say to load it into an Excel spreadsheet or whatever. Probably no way to retrieve the Application Storage bits?

With my hiking apps, I do an addLap when a waypoint his marked, and that way they show up in GC as a split. so you can see them on the map.

That's not possible in a DF though

I also write a bit into the FIT file so you can see the location in Garmin Connect. Very helpful. What would be REALLY COOL (Garmin) is to allow the new heatmap colored maps to include a user data view. In my case, I write a "1" if on DIRT and a "0" if on PAVED. The heatmap could then present a view of the route in which the path is colored to show which are DIRT and which are PAVED.
