Garmin Weather, I need more infos

I got problems with understanding the hole weather thing...

From 3.2 I can use this Toybox instead of any weather-web-requests. So, garmin do that in the background with my defined timer interval.

Does it take the coordinates from my phone? That means, the connect app on my Iphone has to be set to BackgroundActivity and GPS always. Then the watchface checks if theres new info about the weather on my phone. Is that correct? If yes, can I use the coordinates from my phone on my watchface? The Toybox gives me like in the currentcondition

observationLocationName

Textual description of the observation location.
observationLocationPosition

Location where the conditions were observed.
observationTime

UTC time the conditions were observed.

Garmin need any coordinates to do that. So it must be from my phone. The accuracy is absolutly not important. It can be a kilometer. Its just for the weather. It cant be a coordinates from my watch (Vivoactive 4)!?

How can I get the coordinates behind the observation? What does observationLocation exactly means? Where the closest weather station is? Or my position

I hope you understand my question? Not only because of my english ;-)

You can't. The system fetches the weather data periodically and uses the GPS data available to it at the time to request the weather…

To understand this, the best thing to do is put together a simple app and run it on your garmin device.

It uses the location on your phone to get the weather, at least on Android.

observationLocationName is the friendly name of where the weather is for. In my case it's the major city I'm in, along with the country.

observationLocationPosition is the location for where it's got data for, so not the reporting weather station, but where the phone thinks you are. In my case, it's my house

observationTime is the time in unix time format of the data. It's a couple lines of code to convert that into a Moment, and get something like

"77 degrees at 3:51pm"

My target is to get these coordinates as a value in the storage.

The locationName and Position are filled by Garmin with the coordinates from my phone?

For my example, I live 10 km from Basel in Switzerland. The answer of weather is for the Name: Basel and for the Location: My town!?

By default I show observationTime, but with on device settings, you can also see location.

I'm not sure how you're trying to get the co-coordinates. You mean you want to display what's in current conditions?

I have an (unpublished) app where I use GPS pn the watch and display that along with the location I get from currentConditions, and display them both on a map. They are less than 20' apart. Like I said, my house.
