is there a way to get the similar USB charging interface when connected to a PC when connecting garmin forerunner 945 at wall charger?

When garmin is connected to a PC, the user interface changes to USB mode but when connected to a wall plug, only the smaller icon which indicates charging appears. Is there a way to make the watch have similar interface like when connected to a PC for charging?

  • No, I don't think so, unless something's changed since my 935. You can change the behavior of the watch when you plug it into a PC -- instead of having it automatically go into USB mode, you can have it prompt to do so (change System > USB Mode from Mass Storage to Garmin Mode), but you can't change the behavior of the watch when you plug it into the wall / USB charger without data.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want the USB charging interface? It prevents you from doing anything else with the watch and it takes several seconds to enter and exit that mode, during which time the watch is frozen. The other interface with smaller charging icon doesn't prevent you from doing anything with the watch, and it doesn't freeze the watch either. I'm pretty sure it's feature, not a bug, since it allows people to charge their watch in the middle of an activity.

  • What you are seeing is actually a feature. "Charging on the go".

With something like a battery based charger, you can charge the watch while you are recording an activity.  Within CIQ, you can use Sys.getSystemStats().charging to see if the watch is being charged, and in the case of a watch face, do things like change the icon when charging.
