Who's signed up for the Conference?

It's going to be a bit different than the last 3 summits, but I'm sure it will be worth it!

The breakouts will be good and there will be some new stuff presented (there always has been in the past! !).

The downside will be the social side where you can't meet the Garmin folks and other devs, but in the age of covid, that just wouldn't work.

But you can still put names to faces, and find out the secret identity of AlphaMonkeyC!

Just as a preview, AlphaMonkeyC is in this picture..  Slight smile

...

  • It turned up literally as yer man was answering the question about it. Slight smile

  • It seems like they either don't see all the questions in the break out sessions, or they are ignoring some Slight smile

I just tried to ask: "Have you thought about making the VS Code tools open source?" as I think this could potentially speed up the new features and even open it up to things that Garmin HQ have not thought about.

  • yes, i asked about what devices that are supported in 3.2.3, will not be updated to 4.0, maybe they did not see that question

  • Yes, DCR has talked fast when I've seen him before.

  • Nick answered the question about 3.2.3 to 4.0 question in the first CIQ session.  4.0 will only be supported on devices coming out in 2021.  Current devices will not support 4.0.  He mentioned that specifically the F6 will not get 4.0 support but some of the features of 4.0 will be released in further 3.2.x releases.  Similar to how they supported some of the 2.0 features on 1.x devices.

  • The Connect IQ breakout on Teams is difficult to follow as the audio is currently about 16 seconds ahead of the slides, very strange.

wow, what a waste of a morning.  the marketing track was "create a blog!" or "post to social media!"

totally didn't answer any q's about the store categories and broken ratings system.  and only answered about 4 questions before saying "that's all!" and ending 24 mins after the hour.

  • Re: no more Eclipse, is this documented yet?  Is it better to install Visual Studio Code for Windows using the "User Installer" or the "System Installer" (as an admin)?

  • Re: no more Eclipse, is this documented yet?

They said it will be supported fully at least until VS.Code support it complete. Then apparently Eclipse be slowly phased out. So no hurry to install VSC today.

Not sure if that is wise, I think they should keep supporting both. Why not give options to developers?

It was a very great event! I was very pleased after the end. I learned a lot of new things and met a lot of new people. I think that it would be nice to organize another one in the next three months. Last week I participated in a very unique event. It was a conference about some climate changes on our planet. In the end, we had a lot of fun. We played a few virtual team-building games. It was very nice. In this way, I met a lot of new people. I think that we also could organize such an activity.
