USB connection delay

During my development and testing cycle, I'm frequently re-connecting my watch as a USB drive to my Mac, and am frustrated having to wait for the sometimes 30+ seconds before the Mac automatically recognises the new connection.

And no, the Sim is not the solution as my I'm testing some real-world conditions.

It happens with both my F5 and VA-HR, so not the particular watch.

A USB memory stick gets recognised almost instantly.

Is there any way to force the Mac to re-establish the connection?

I don't think 30 seconds is that much, and I'd say that's about what I see on windows.

Unlike a USB drive, there's more going on as the Garmin device itself if running and using the file system, so that must be saved off in a safe state before it can connect to a computer. A usb drive is static, so there's nothing to do when you connect it.

OK, I was thinking the delay was in the Mac.

Still, in a digital world, 30 seconds is an eternity. I wonder what's really going on?

I would agree. I use windows and find that connection time is long, sometimes flakey. Slows down development when you need to do a lot of connect/disconnect for testing.
