View Memory and Watchface diagnostics unreadable

Hi all,

I've got a feeling this might have been reported already, but I couldn't find the bug report for it.

I'm running Connect IQ SDK 3.2.2 on Eclipse 2020-06 (4.16.0) from macOS 10.15.6.

When I open view memory from a running device, I cannot read the summary at the top.

When I run Watchface diagnostics it's almost unreadable.

I'm running Eclipse in dark Mode, but this happens in dark or light mode.

Anyone else seeing this?

  • I recall seeing other posts about this, but I'm not sure what to use to search for it (I use windows)

  • This is a known issue. The GUI library that we are using had an issue with MacOS dark mode, and we haven't had a chance to update to a more recent version.

For the time being, the only workaround (other than squinting really hard) is to disable dark mode. You can do this system-wide, or for individual applications. I've never done the latter, but you can find instructions on the web like these.

  • Thanks Travis.  The example you linked to doesn't seem to work for macOS Catalina, but it did lead me to an app - called nightowl - that allows global and per app settings.  Unfortunately, either Eclipse or ConnectIQ does not follow the per app setting so the only choice is to globally set Light mode (ie, for your whole system), which is pretty annoying, but almost workable for the time being.
