SDK 3.2 and linux

With previous SDK (3.1) we were able to use/download the SDK under Linux. it's seem that with latest 3.2 this is no more possible.

We can only install the eclipse plugin ! so it's unuesable !

is it possible to download the old (3.1) SDk somewhere ? and/or be able to use the new 3.2 under Linux ?

I created a docker container with the new SDK Manager and the current Eclipse version, so far it seems to work. Here's the repo: https://github.com/nicolasgross/docker-connectiq

Hmm. Good luck getting the sdkmanager to work. It doesn't work for me.

how to download the sdkmanger for Linux ? From developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/sdk I can only find the windows (if I'am under windows) or OSX version (if I'am under OXS), under a Linux (ubuntu) no choice…

You can download the SDK manager. The SDK manager can be used to download the SDK. This is all independent of eclipse (but does currently require a GUI).

When I access the sdk download page with linux I get offered the linux sdk manager (which doesn't work on Fedora):

Hi,

your link give me access to part of the SDK, but not the manager itself, I've got it working on my ubuntu like the 3.1 for the simulator, but not able to download sdk version as there is no manager in the archive !

moreover I've got an error : "Can't open file ${HOME}/garmin/sdks/sdk-manager/share/simulator/api.db' (error 2: No such file or directory)" which is a bit strange as the api.db is in the "bin" directory of the installation !

Garmin's Instruction is a bit confuse but somehow, i manage to get it work on Ubuntu...

- Uninstall current Connect iq plug-in an restart eclipse. ( help >> install new software >> what is already installed )
- Reinstall Connect iq plug-in again. ( help >> install new software)

- Restart Eclipse and open "Connect IQ >> open SDK manager" and click on download, it will take you to https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/sdk/ to download the SDK manager ....
- Extract the file and put it on your HOME directory (both "bin" and "share")

- on Eclipse go to " Window >> preference >> Connect IQ " , uncheck "detect the SDK manager path automatically" and click browse to select path to sdk manually ( the "bin" folder extracted recently from downloaded file)

- open "Connect IQ >>open SDK manager" again, you should see the login screen....
- after login and accept all permissions, you need to download both "SDK" and "Devices" to make new sdk work.....

Seems like SDK 3.2 is "working" with Linux (Ubuntu 18.04) (I think I had to manually install libpng), but I get an error occasionally: "Encountered an app crash". Cryptic, and does what you think it does. If anyone has the same problem, just switch back to 3.1

Edit: Actually it turns out the problem was related to overuse of memory, just the SDK doesn't give a detailed error message.

Travis.ConnectIQdo you have some news regarding the upgrade? Because not everyone is able to run an absolutely outdated Linux distribution ;)

I hate to say it but I think it is best to temper your expectations with regard to linux support and dependencies. I believe I've mentioned previously that we have a task to switch over to statically linking to avoid runtime dependencies like this, but it is pretty low on the priority list. :(
