new ecplise plug in busted

i was in eclipse and it said there was a new update for the garmin plug in.

Everything had been working fine to that point.

I installed it, now it says that is requires the connect IQ SDK manager. Also says The Connect IQ SDK Manager path isn't set. Please run the SDK Manager and try again. But that is set and has not changed.

Have not figured out what is messed or how to revert to an older plugin.

It appears the new one is labelled v3.2.1.

Gonna tinker, maybe try uninstall plug in and re-add.

Settings for the plugin look ok and as usual to me.

I found release notes indicating

v3.2.1
* Remove built-in SDK manager dialog.
* Update all SDK manager functionality to use the new SDK / device management application.

But what and where is this new application?

Apologies for the confusion--we've made a few changes to make it easier to manage device updates and new devices (not to mention SDKs). Try launching the SDK Manager within Eclipse. That should pop up a window that has a button to download the SDK Manager:

ok working on all that now. lots of changes. happened just as i was putting an app i the store.

Will take some time to get this all going again. It moved my SDK from a working drive to \appdata\ which is not ideal but i should be able to fix that once all these downloads complete.

i got it sort of working. I tried to move the SDK to my working disk where all my previous SDK are located.

I then tried using the eclipse/window/preferences to indicate the location of the location of the new 3.2.1 SDK.

This allowed eclipse to correctly use the SDK in the chosen location.

However when i go in the new SDK manager it does not seem to understand this and wants to download to

C:\Users\mikec\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\ConnectIQ\Sdks...

You can manually set the location of an SDK you want the Eclipse Plug-in to reference, but the SDK Manager will currently always download new content (SDK and devices) to AppData.

Our intent was to handle the management of these items so you wouldn't have to, but I'll file a ticket to allow that to be configurable.

well i can work with it i suppose. i have an SSD disk which includes AppData. so i have been trying to keep larger installations on a regular hard disk so i do not fill up the SSD. now that i know about it i can manually move SDK as needed. The old system allowed you to configure the SDK location.

In the new SDK documentation, there is a single 'search', before there was option to search classes and methods. For example in old SDK i can search method 'shape' and find 'screenShape'. the new SDK does not find it.

That's a known issue--we'll have it fixed in a future update. I search by method a lot myself, so I feel your pain.
