is it possible to use ANT Timesync in ConnectIQ

I want to use ANT Timesync to synchronise my device to ConnectIQ. Both devices are writing FIT files and it would be beneficial to synchronise these, and ideally I would be sending the messages from ConnectIQ to my device. I find no mention of it in the API documentation. Is there any way to configure it?

You should be able to use the ANT GenericChannel API for sending a message like this.

Hi Travis. I have looked at GenericChannel API but no mention of ANT timesync. The API itself needs to put in the delay between when a message was populated and when it is actually sent by the device, so need to explicitly tell it to use timesync. Any ideas?

One thing to note is if a device gets the time by way of timesync with CIQ, from CIQ there is no way to set the time on the device

Sorry, to be totally clear, can you confirm there is no way to send an ANT Timesync message from a CIQ app? In the ANT API the equivalent command would be sd_ant_time_sync_broadcast_tx()

You can write ant code to get a time value, but once you have it, there's really not much you can do with it.

You can't set the clock on a CIQ device.

Maybe I'm missing what you are trying to synchronize.

If you're using GPS, that will provide a close sync of the times on devices.

Hi Travis,

Use of ANT Timesync is to send a lap command from head unit to our device. this is based on the temporarily shelved ANT+ aero profile. This can come from button press or GPS gate, or lap trigger in velodrome. Please see attached. We don't need this full 1/32768s resolution, but for consistency would like 1/100s or better.
