So I saw an automatic update ran through and idly wondered whether I could spot anything new in the compatible devices list for one of my apps...

All as you’d expect until the last one:

So what the hell is that? (Other than a bug with Connect IQ app.)

Interesting. I'm not seeing this issue for apps on the web store, but I'm definitely seeing it for the same apps in the ConnectIQ app. Example:

No Phosphor device listed there if you use a browser, but if you look up Strava Routes in the ConnectIQ app you'll see the Phosphor device listed. I'm not seeing the generic icon like you are, I'm seeing an actual device icon, but that isn't really relevant.

The Phosphor device was announced publicly a few weeks ago, so this device name and icon should be updated. You should be able to tell which device it is by simply comparing the icons.

I see an icon now, so I’m guessing it’s a bike computer, as is the new “Pelican” that appears above it.

Yeah, the Pelican is another cycling device released at the same time as Phosphor.
