Access all Activity Info of an Edge Device

Hi Folks,

does anybody know if Garmin is planning to provide access to all available activity info on Edge devices? You have various information about e.g. a Power-Meter, Laps and so on.
In my opinion it wouldn't make much sense to open a ANT+ channel to the vector pedals to get that information directly.
It would also be nice to get information about the current navigation, segment or active course. For example getting the next course point including its altitude would allow you to calculate the vertical distance to this point (a feature some other Garmin devices have build in).

Yes, we have plans to make more activity info available. For example, we have cases to update the swim metrics available on devices--that's a feature many people have asked for. We also want to get lap data added.

Connect IQ started out in a fairly modest way, and began with a core set of activity info that was targeted at a very limited number of devices. Now that we've moved beyond a couple of wearable devices and the potential for the system is quickly expanding, we're paying close attention to the way folks are using Connect IQ (or want to use Connect IQ) so we can best meet what's needed. One way to meet some of that need is widening what's available in activity info.

I'll file a separate case to get your request on the books. We've already discussed our treatment of the Edge a lot (there's more for the Edge coming down the road), but I want to make sure your request doesn't get missed. Thanks for your comments!

Hi Brandon,

thanks for your fast reply. It would really be nice to provide as much information as possible in an app or a datafield. For example I saw some requests on the edge forums to provide a datafield for the remaining segment distance and time ahead/behind, which would be a very simple task as soon as IQ would provide this information. Some people (like me) do long segments (>30minutes) so it would be nice to see cadence, power and so on and the time ahead/behind on the same screen.
