Cant download watch faces or widgets Fenix 5 plus

I keep getting an error message on the Connect IQ app that says "Sorry something went wrong" and 'This app requires an update of Fenix 5 Plus' . The watch is up to date and I have been able to download Spotify and Amazon music, but cannot dl any faces or any other widgets. Any ideas?

connect your watch with garmin express on a computer to check for new firmware updates there.

in case that also doesn't get the new version installed, factory reset your watch from within the settings and connect your watch with garmin express again.
