Error: Failed invoking <symbol> on device, but not in sim

Hi,

I'm trying to test my very first and very simple watch face. It works fine in the simulator. But when I deploy the watch face to my fenix 3 (as described in the side loading an application section in the programmers guide on developer.garmin.com), it shows a blank screen and after a few seconds, the default watch face is shown. Reading the CIQ_LOG.txt, it says

ERROR: Unhandled Exception
DETAILS: Failed invoking <symbol>
STORE_ID: 00000000000000000000000000000000
WARNING: Unfreed memory on exit

any hints would be very appreciated!

try watching someone else's tutorial and seeing if you did things differently. I haven't watched it, and I am a beginner here but seems to me a lot an go wrong in first watchface, and you haven't given much detail. Failed invoking symbol are not infrequent although usually I see those at compilation time.

Thanks for your reply. I had watched this video before, unfortunately it doesn't show a test on a real device. My watch face runs perfectly on the simulator, too. I didn't use any special code, just basics. Maybe I should try a new project.

I've seen this in cases where I run out of memory or available objects. What does your memory usage in the simulator?

Found that thread too in this forum. My mem usage is lower than 6kb.

Are you using a debug compile or a release compile on the watch? You're running into something that may not occur in the sim, but does on a real device, and one of the cases of that is in Activity.Info (6kb tells me you're probably doing a data field).

When first starting a recording some of the values in activity info can be null, so you need to check for that. There may be some things that don't exist on all platforms and you need to use "has" for those.

Thank you all for your hints! I found the problem. I called the drawText() method with a variable that was of type int. Using it with .toString() solved the problem.
