Any advice for grainy images?

I have been trying to add some images to one of my apps, and have had no success getting an image to be shown without being grainy.

Below is a small example of what is displayed on the watch.

Does anyone have any image/asset exporting tips that have helped you?

Does the original image have aliasing issues like that? If so, then that is definitely a problem.

The best way to ensure you get what you want is to use the color palette available on the device when creating your assets and to not scale them after. Scaling an image to a smaller size will typically merges pixels, which will change the color to be the average of the merged pixels.

For an image like this, I'd expect at least 4 colors to be used (white, black, light gray, and dark gray) to make the edges look smoother.
