Fenix 5 up/down button in Connect IQ Simulator

Developing on macos 10.15.3 using connectiq-sdk-mac-3.1.8-2020-05-01-5a72d0ab2.

I have a widget that's working great in fenix 6 simulator, all buttons as expected.

Switching to fenix5 simulator the select and back buttons work as expected but up and down buttons do not seem to fire at all.

I have tried adding an onKey() handler to my delegate and that doesn't get called at all for the up/down keys.

Is the simulator broken or do I need to do something different in my delegate for the fenix 5?

With widgets, up down are used to move through the widget loop. If you want to use them in a widget, you need to push a new view and use them in that delegate.

For the f6, are glances enabled? If so, when you go to full screen, I think you can use up/down, but not tried it myself. Turn off glances and the f6 should act like the f5.

Ah, of course - that makes sense.

Is there any way I can tell if glance is enabled/disabled so I know to return a simpler initial view if in the widget loop?

I mean, if glance isn't enabled I should use an initial view that is lightweight, like my glance view, and then click into the main view.

The note for it has:

Indicates if widget glances are enabled on the device.

If glance mode is enabled, the system will pass up / down key events to a widget's base page. Otherwise, the system will mask them out.

Since it's "since 3.1.4" you may want to use "has" to see it's available on the device.

You also may want to look at using a glance view, so your widget shows more than it's icon and name in a glance. You can't display much, but maybe a summary.
