Where does Garmin get its map data?

We are building a platform that allows a business to update its data across all directories and maps. How to add or update points of interest in Garmin? Is it from a third-party or Is there an API for it?

Not sure where garmin gets maps, but remember maps are used in things like aviation and auto products too,
