Custom watchface causes delay on venu

I have a garmin Venu. Very pleased with it, but i think the standard watchfaces are a bit boring. I have downloaded two watchfaces, everything works, but it causes a little delay. Delay in showing the time when moving my arm for instance (around 1-2 seconds). Is there anyone else who has had this problem when changing watch faces?

it's a "known issue" on the venu, if you put the watch display to always on then there's no delay.

I have a similar issue on my Fenix 3 and on my FR935. When i flip between views using up or down there is always a significant 1-2 sec delay before it displays any custom watch face. Garmin's watch faces don't seem to be subject to the same delay.

Apps written with MonkeyC run on top of the Monkey Brains VM - essentially a piece of software running on your watch that interprets and executes the compiled code. My guess is that the VM is adding signifcant performance overhead, paticularly at start-up.

Given the limited selection of Garmin watch faces for the Venu, this is a fairly major negative. However, since the issue has existed for some time (at least 4 years), it's unlikely to be fixed any time soon.

Delays can be the result of the WF's themselves. The more complex, the more likely that you'll see a delay.

Use "contact developer" for the ones that the delay is too noticeable, as the developer may not have that specific device to test on and may not know.
