IQ limitation?

Hi,
I've try to install two data field who has been released: graphical hr and graphical elevation. I didn't manage to be able to upload both, at the same time, on my 920. Is this a limitation? One watch face and one data field? Same when i try to trnasfert 2 watch faces.

Thx,
Stephane
  • You can load up to 16 apps to a 920, though only watch faces and data fields are supported at this time. You can see here that I have three data fields installed on my 920. There are two watch faces installed, too, for a total of five apps:

You can only two data fields at once, and of course can only use one watch face at a time. :) Make sure you have updated the 920 to the 2.64 beta firmware release, as described here:

  • Hi,

Thx a lot for the reply.
Ok, i've make this works now. It seems to be an other bug. If your watch is not connected to the usb cable and you try to add more than one data field or watch face, it gone give random result when you will sync later...
But, if you are connected, and you add many of them, you will see them appear one after each in the app folder of the watch...

    Thx again,
    Steph

  • I see, only two custom fields can be used. So you have to make hard choice, what you need more.

Is this limit temporary and will be lifted?
  • Only two custom data fields per activity type. i.e., you should be able to use graphical heart rate and graphical elevation for Biking, and battery monitor and beers earned for Running.

Yes, in this case I have to delete Distance to start, 10K predictor, heading in degrees and Pace Smoozed. Oh, already four of them, and yours two. I wonder, what should a choose =)

So, my question stays - is this a last word, or this limit will be lifted? I'm sure a lot of new fields will appear what will aggravate the problem =)
  • I don't currently see this as a significant limitation. If I want to, I can create a 10K race profile that has your 10K predictor and pace smoothed data fields, and I can create run workout profile that has two other fields.

I believe the limitations are in place to help ensure the real-time nature of the system. Garmin is trying to protect the correct behavior of their devices while allowing the community to customize the experience. That said, it is possible that the restrictions could be changed, but I have serious doubts that they'd be removed.

The restriction on the number of active data fields is determined by the amount of memory that the device has remaining when it is running a native activity. It is unlikely the limit on the 920XT will change, and if it does, it won't change by much. In the future, we hope to have devices with the capacity to run more data fields concurrently.

What's the limit for F3? Vivoactive?

The Fenix 3 and VivoActive have a very similar memory footprint. I believe they are both currently using the same limit of 2 data fields.
