App log file

On some devices, the name isn't case sensitive, and on others it is.  That's something to check on.

Hi Jim... I have tried everything, and I am dumbfounded.... it just will not log to the text file... It is logging an error to a ciq file

I'm trying to troubleshoot, but basically I cannot replicate it,  It is happening only the first Time I install the app on my watch, and the first time I run the app...any ideas?

So in apps\logs you have A2P30806.txt, correct?  The name of the log file must match the name of the prg.  It may need to be .TXT based on the device.

no the app name is Sail Racer, so I had a text file called Sail Racer and it worked, then since my watch updated to software 6.1, it just will not log Sys print files anymore. Text file remains blank?

That file name you mentioned, is in \GARMIN\Apps\DATA\AUXFILE\A2P30806

and it's empty according to my PC browser, there are 3 other folders in there, they are all empty and to do with connectIQ installed apps

The log file name must match the prg name (that's how it looks for a log file), and when you download from the store, the prg name is changed - in this case to A2P30806.prg  so the log file name must be A2P30806.txt.

You don't use the AppName for this.  The name of the prg is what you use.

I get it.... it changes the name even when I side load the app, because before the 6.1 update if I sideloaded, i noticed that the sideloaded app allways remained in the App directory, but now it doesn't, it dissapears
