News for Widget Glances!

Up until now, glances were only on the f6 and marq devices, but yesterday beta fw for the 945 and 245 with glances was released (version 4.06 on both devices)!

If no ideas are left I would report the bug to Garmin. How can I do this?

Just another question. Does the glance memory lowers the limit of the widgets?

The code you add for glances is also loaded when you're in full screen mode

Oh, what a pitty. Some of my widgets are at the memory limit. Most newer devices have larger limits but some MARQ limit to 60 kB :-(

This could explain what's happening for you on the 945. There have been slight variations in the memory used in the sim and on a real device in the past, so you want to have some available and not get too close to the edge.

Make sure you're not including anything when in glance mode you don't need in glance mode.

Hi Jim. Good hypothesis, but I don't believe this, since widgets can have 1019 kB on the FR945. I am at 50 kB. Furthermore I had a glance view once for that which just shows a text (very memory efficient) but this glance view had the same problems. It's only one widget which doesn't call the getGlanceView, the other widgets work great.

Hi again,

I added another glance view for a widget. This widget had a very simple glance view before which had no problems. The old glance view showed just steps and stepgoal. This worked reliable. Now I updated it and inserted more code to look pretty. And after publishing, again only the widget's name is displayed in glance view. The widget was at round 55 kB in maximum, the glance view adds another 8 kB. Maybe there is more behind your hypothesis regarding memory limit.

Saying this, Garmin has imho to improve this situation in the simulator since the simulator says that I have more than 1000 kB. It's very frustrating to spend several hours in development to get aware that the code is not loaded.

In the sim, when running the glance view what do you see in the bottom line of the sim for memory? Also check for peak memory in the sim (View Memory) at the same time.
