Can you open a watch app from the phone?

On my pebble I used alarmist to show/dismiss/snooze Android alarms on my watch (github.com/.../alarmist-pebble)..

Can an Android app open a watch app on a Garmin device? I'd like to adapt alarmist for garmin.

In the past, this was only possible if there was an "open the app?" Notification on the watch first... Is this still the case?

What you're seeing is when a background process is asking to open it's main app, and that's still the case.

jim_m_58 Do you think this can be handled with the new push notification service? Also, do you know where the docs are for this? I'm not seeing them anywhere.

Is this still the case in 2024? I'm considering jumping into Garmin ecosystem, but this is a dealbreaker.
